A kestrel for a knave

I have read this book a few times and also seen the movie , it's about growing up in the North of England in the late 60's early 70's.
Billy Casper is a boy with nowhere to go and nothing to say,part of the limbo generation of school leavers too old for lessons and too young to know anything about the outside world.He hates and his hated.His family and friends are mean and tough,his only companion is his kestrel hawk trained from the nest,and like himself trained but not tamed,with the will to destroy or be destroyed.

My housemate Julie rescued Roy an 8 year old Fox Terrier from the Lost Dogs Home in Devonport.
He arrived by ferry last Tuesday and despite being naughty as hell with no idea of personal space ( for the last 3 nights he has slept on top of my head on my pillow ) he is settling in nicely.

Big kids colouring book

Taliah Lempert is an artist who lives in NYC where she paints portraits of bicycles in her Brooklyn studio.She first began painting pictures of bicycles in 1996,though she has always ridden a bike.
I have had this colouring book for a fare few years now and I love re visiting it and I have never coloured
any of them in, maybe I should someday.

Gran Fondo

Seems like everybody but me went along and rode the Gran Fondo on the weekend on the Great Ocean Road , and by all accounts it was a terrific event .
I asked my friend Mark how he went...." good fun hurting now but great day, really well organised.I was broken by the last hill although in better shape than the 2 blokes spewing on the side of the road.Speak soon "

A little story...

was sent to me by a friend, her boss Ric Reid and his riding mate John Harris both rode the Milk Race back in 1990
Both riders had very different fortunes , Ric finished 23rd on GC whilst poor old John smashed into a bollard breaking most of his teeth.
Apparently his bike fitted quite nicely into a suitcase .

Tour of Britain

I have always enjoyed riding my bike and watching bike racing
I use to watch the TDF on telly with my dad but to get to watch a pro bike race live, as a kid there was nothing better.
It was known back then as The Milk Race and it's where I got my inspiration and passion for riding and racing my bicycle.
SBS are showing each stage of ToB every night at 7.30

Day trip

Took a drive with Julie,Elvis and Sparky yesterday down to Geelong
Checked out a few of the Mill Markets which are stacked high with great industrial furniture and old bits n pieces
Topped it of with Fish n Chips and a walk along the promenade.

Shut shop...

Had a good week at Northside lots of nice feedback and even a couple of very cool gifts
